Calcium formate

Chemical formula: CA(СНО2)2

Anti-frost and provides fast curing additive in dry mixes and concretes

Is a calcium salt of formic acid
White-yellowish powder
Product reacts alkaline
Susceptible to moisture
Application
The elongation cycle of construction works on transitional periods – winter spring, fall winter and works in the winter requires special conditions for the formation of cement stone in the cold. Since the processes of hardening cement systems governed by chemical reactions occurring in the system, the temperature of a reaction is a significant factor of influence on them, and lowering the temperature will cause them to slow down, and the lower the temperature of the hardening, the stronger is the slowing down to almost a complete stop of the process.

Water, part of any solution, as a chemical component of the reacting system at subzero temperatures fast enough to freeze for the period from the moment of mixing the cement mixture with water until it is completely cooled should have time to form a microstructure that will be sufficient for adhesion to the substrate. In this case, the hydration of cement occurs by 2-5%, depending on the temperature, and the water, which, before her transformation into ice, manages to accumulate in the microstructures, will be the reserve for the continuation of hydration. If subsequently the temperature is positive, hydration is resumed and fully formed cement stone.

When using calcium formate, cement hydration occurs by 10-20% and at positive temperature provides more rapid curing of the cement stone.

Dosage
For the most efficient processes add:
At the temperature of -10 – 1.0% calcium formate per 100% dry matter (equivalent to 200 g per package 20 kg mixture 10 kg or 1 ton)
At a temperature of -15 – 2.0% of calcium formate per 100% dry matter (equivalent to 400 g per package 20 kg mix, 20 kg or 1 ton)
Usually use an aqueous solution of 14% concentration of formate of calcium. In this case one kilogram of the solution contains 0.14 kg of dry formate of calcium. The resulting solution is added together with the mixing water.
The maximum percentage of added formate of calcium is not more than 2.5% per 100% of dry matter.
The temperature of the water used for making concrete/mortar should be between +15 to +25ºC.

Dosage supplements in liquid form 100 kg of cement in concrete/mortar:

at-10 ° C – approx 7-7,5 l of an aqueous solution (1 kg);
at-15 ° C – approx 14-15 litres of an aqueous solution (2 kg).

Storage
Calcium formate technical non-explosive and non-flammable, but in storage and operation it should be to ban Smoking and use of open fire. The degree of impact on the body relates to the substances of the 3rd hazard class. When working with calcium formate should be used personal protection equipment — gown, mask, rubber gloves. In emergency situations, it is necessary to use a gas mask grade A or M is Transported by any mode of transport in accordance with goods transportation regulations. Calcium formate is stored in dry warehouse on pallets.

Shelf life – 1 year from date of manufacture. Not recommended the tightness of the packing due to high hydrophilicity.
