Sorbitol 70% (lat. names: Sorbitol, Glucitol) is a 70% solution of sorbitol in water, sweet, colorless, not crystallizing.

The substance retains its properties when boiled and is successfully added to products requiring heat treatment.

Despite the pronounced sweet taste, sorbitol is not a carbohydrate, so it can be consumed without harm to health by people with diabetes.

It is often used in the production of dietary food and beverages, chewing gums, confectionery, jelly, marshmallows, sweets, canned fruits and vegetables, mince products, soft drinks. With the ability to draw moisture from the air (hygroscopicity), sorbitol prevents premature hardening and drying of products. In pharmaceuticals, sorbitol is used as a structure-forming agent and filler in the manufacture of gelatin capsules, vitamin preparations, creams, ointments, pastes, and cough syrups. It is also used in the production of vitamin C (ascorbic acid). In addition, sorbitol is used as a hygroscopic substance in the cosmetic industry (manufacturing of creams, toothpastes, masks, powders, deodorants, lotions, shower gels, shampoos), as well as in textile, leather, tobacco, paper and chemical industries.
