Calcium Chloride Dihydrate

Formula: CaCl2 · 2H2O GOST/CAS: CAS 10035-04-8 / ГОСТ 450-77

Calcium Chloride Dihydrate is a highly effective calcium salt in the form of white crystals or flakes, characterized by excellent water solubility and strong hygroscopic properties. In the construction industry and building materials production, it is traditionally used as a classic, powerful, and highly cost-effective concrete setting and hardening accelerator, as well as an efficient antifreeze agent. The application of this additive significantly intensifies cement hydration, ensuring rapid early strength development of the concrete mix.

Applications

Concrete Hardening Acceleration: Used in the production of ready-mix concrete and mortars to reduce the setting time of cement systems and accelerate early strength development (especially within the first 1–3 days).
Precast Concrete Production (RC): Actively utilized in precast concrete plants to optimize manufacturing cycles. It significantly reduces or completely eliminates the need for steam curing (heat-moisture treatment), thereby accelerating mold turnover.
Cold Weather Concreting: Serves as an effective antifreeze additive for concrete and mortar mixes, lowering the freezing point of water and ensuring proper cement hydration at sub-zero temperatures.
Dry Mixes and Mortars: Integrated into dry construction formulations, tile adhesives, and repair mortars where controlled, accelerated setting is required.

Key Advantages

High Early Strength: Provides a rapid increase in the strength of concrete structures during the initial stages of curing, allowing for quicker demolding and accelerating subsequent construction phases.
Effective Antifreeze Protection: Enables construction works to proceed during winter, preventing the free water in the concrete mix from freezing before setting begins.
Cost Efficiency: It stands out as one of the most affordable, time-tested, and economical hardening accelerators available in the construction chemicals market.
Energy Consumption Reduction: In precast concrete manufacturing, it lowers energy costs (steam or electricity) required for curing by accelerating the exothermic reaction of the cement.

Storage & Transportation

  • Store in dry, covered, well-ventilated warehouse areas in tightly sealed original packaging. The product is extremely hygroscopic! Protect from moisture, humidity, and atmospheric precipitation.
  • Prevent mechanical damage to the packaging to avoid product caking and lumping due to moisture absorption.
  • Transport is permissible by all types of covered transport in compliance with standard freight regulations. Under airtight storage conditions, the shelf life is 1 year.
