CMIT/MIT Preservative

Formula: C4H4ClNOS GOST/CAS: CAS 55965-84-9

CMIT/MIT Preservative (a highly effective, broad-spectrum biocide belonging to the isothiazolinone class) is a specialized liquid component that serves as a key agent for protecting aqueous systems against microbial spoilage, bacteria, mold, and yeast fungi. The product is a transparent liquid, completely soluble in water and alcohols. Due to its ability to work effectively at very low concentrations and prevent biodecomposition, souring, and the formation of unpleasant odors, this preservative is indispensable in the production of household chemicals, detergents, cleaning agents, cosmetics, and car care products.

Applications

Household Chemicals & Detergents: Used as a base preservative in the manufacture of liquid dishwashing detergents, laundry gels, fabric softeners, liquid soaps, and shampoos. Provides reliable protection for rinse-off products.
Industrial Cleaning & Car Care: Applied in formulations of windshield washer fluids, car shampoos, universal cleaning concentrates, and industrial cleaners to prevent biodegradation of surfactants during storage.
Construction Chemicals & Coatings: Used for in-can preservation of water-borne paints, primers, putties, water-based adhesives, and ready-mix mortars, protecting them from mold growth.
Textile & Paper Industries: Utilized for biocidal treatment of process water, pigment slurries, sizing, and finishing compounds to prevent the formation of bacterial slime on processing equipment.

Key Advantages

Broad-Spectrum Biocidal Activity: Effectively inhibits the growth of both Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria, as well as fungi, yeasts, and algae even at minimal dosages.
Cost-Efficiency & High Performance: Exhibits high activity at extremely low working concentrations (typically 0.05% to 0.15% as supplied), which lowers the production cost of the final product.
Stability & Compatibility: Mixes perfectly with anionic, non-ionic, and cationic surfactants, emulsifiers, and most raw material components. It remains stable across a wide pH range (optimally from 2.0 to 8.5–9.0).
Environmental Safety in Wastewater: Rapidly degrades into safe, non-toxic components in the environment, does not bioaccumulate, and is free of formaldehyde and heavy metals.

Storage & Transportation

  • Store in a dry, cool, and well-ventilated warehouse in tightly closed original packaging, away from direct sunlight and heat sources.
  • Recommended storage temperature range: +5°C to +35°C. Do not allow the product to freeze, and avoid exposure to temperatures exceeding +40°C.
  • Avoid contact with strong oxidizing agents, reducing agents, amines, and highly alkaline environments, which can deactivate the active ingredient.
  • Transport is permitted by all types of covered transport in compliance with dangerous goods transport regulations (for concentrated forms—hazard class 8 or 9 depending on concentration). Shelf life is 1 year from the date of manufacture.
