Cocamide DEA (CDE)

Formula: C₁₁H₂₃CON(CHβ‚‚CHβ‚‚OH)β‚‚ GOST/CAS: CAS 68603-42-9

Cocamide DEA (Coconut Oil Diethanolamide) is a highly efficient non-ionic surfactant, serving as a key active raw component for the production of cosmetics, household chemicals, and industrial products. The product is a viscous, light yellow to amber liquid, excellently soluble in water. Due to its outstanding foam stabilization, thickening, and mild cleansing properties, Cocamide DEA is indispensable in formulating shampoos, shower gels, liquid soaps, as well as various detergents and cleaning agents.

Applications

Cosmetic Industry & Personal Care: Functions as a primary co-surfactant and thickening agent in shampoos, liquid soaps, shower gels, and bubble baths. It mitigates the harshness of primary anionic surfactants, preventing skin and hair dryness.
Household & Car Care Chemicals: Used in liquid detergents, dishwashing liquids, cleaning gels, and car shampoos. It enhances the overall degreasing and cleaning efficiency of formulations and stabilizes foam even in hard water.
Industrial Manufacturing: Applied in the textile and leather industries as an antistatic agent, emulsifier, and wetting agent, as well as a component in metalworking fluids (soluble oils).
Perfumery & Fragrances: Used as a fragrance fixative and solubilizer for essential oils and perfumes, ensuring their uniform distribution in aqueous solutions.

Key Advantages

Synergistic Thickening Effect: Efficiently increases the viscosity of systems containing anionic surfactants (e.g., SLES), significantly reducing the amount of sodium chloride (NaCl) required to achieve the desired consistency.
Foam Stabilization & Boosting: Provides rich, dense, and stable foam generation even in the presence of heavy oily soils, enhancing the consumer appeal of the finished product.
Mild Conditioning Properties: Exhibits a light antistatic and conditioning effect on hair, adding dermatological mildness to cosmetic formulations.
Wide-Range Stability: Demonstrates high resistance to hydrolysis, maintaining its properties across both acidic and alkaline pH ranges, as well as in combination with other surfactant classes.

Storage & Transportation

  • Store in dry, cool, and well-ventilated warehouses protected from direct sunlight, in tightly sealed original packaging.
  • Recommended storage temperature: +10Β°C to +35Β°C. At lower temperatures, the product may thicken; it is recommended to bring it to room temperature before use.
  • Avoid moisture ingress and prolonged exposure to air to prevent any alterations in physico-chemical properties.
  • Transportation is permitted by all types of covered transport while maintaining the required temperature conditions. The material is classified as non-hazardous for transport. Shelf life is 1–2 years (depending on the manufacturer's specification).
