Hydroxyethylidene Diphosphonic Acid (HEDP) is a highly efficient organic phosphonic acid used as an excellent chelating agent (complexing agent), scale inhibitor, and corrosion inhibitor. The product is available as a white crystalline powder or a clear aqueous solution, showing outstanding solubility in water, acids, and alkalis. Due to its unique ability to bind hardness ions and heavy metal ions into stable water-soluble complexes, HEDP is an indispensable component in the formulation of professional detergents, car care chemicals, and household cleaners.
Applications
Household Detergent Manufacturing: Included in the formulations of laundry powders, liquid detergents, and gel pods. It softens water, prevents the encrustation of hardness salts on fabrics, and protects the heating elements of washing machines from limescale build-up.
Industrial Cleaners: Used in formulations for CIP (Clean-in-Place) washing of food processing equipment, brewery tanks, dairy pipelines, and containers. Effectively removes stubborn mineral deposits, milk stone, and beer stone.
Car Care and Auto Chemicals: Applied in the production of touchless car wash shampoos (active foam) and wheel rim cleaners. It stabilizes surfactants in hard water and prevents the formation of white water spots on the vehicle body after drying.
Rust and Scale Removal: Acts as a base component for household and industrial descaling agents used to clean plumbing, boilers, heat exchangers, and heating systems from lime deposits and corrosion products.

- Recommended storage temperature: from -10°C to +30°C. For liquid forms, protect from freezing (in case of crystallization, gentle warming is required).
- The material is corrosive; avoid contact with parts made of aluminum, zinc, and copper. Store separately from alkalis and strong oxidizers.
- Transportation is permitted by all modes of covered transport in strict compliance with the rules for carrying hazardous goods (liquid form belongs to Class 8 hazardous materials for transport). Guaranteed shelf life — 1 year from the date of manufacture (up to 2 years for the powder form).
