Protargol (Silver Proteinated) is a highly effective pharmaceutical active ingredient consisting of colloidal silver stabilized within a protein hydrolysate (albumin) matrix. It possesses pronounced astringent, antiseptic, and anti-inflammatory properties. The mechanism of action is based on the gradual dissociation of silver ions, which bind to bacterial DNA and enzymes, effectively blocking the reproduction of pathogenic microflora and precipitating bacterial cell proteins. It is widely utilized as a core raw material for compounding in hospital/compounding pharmacies (ex tempore formulations) and for large-scale industrial pharmaceutical manufacturing.
Applications
Pharmaceutical Manufacturing: Production of finished dosage forms (nasal drops, ophthalmic drops, topical solutions) for the treatment of inflammatory diseases in ENT, urology, and ophthalmology fields.
Compounding Pharmacies (Ex Tempore): Used by pharmacy chains and manufacturing laboratories to compound extemporaneous aqueous solutions at 1%, 2%, and 3% concentrations according to individual medical prescriptions.
Veterinary Medicine: Included in the formulation of comprehensive antiseptic and wound-healing veterinary products intended for mucous membrane treatments and infectious wound management in animals.

Storage & Transportation
- Store in dry, clean, cool warehouse environments in tightly sealed original packaging (amber glass containers or opaque plastic drums), strictly protected from light.
- Recommended storage temperature range: +8°C to +25°C. Protect entirely from direct sunlight and UV radiation, as exposure leads to silver photoreduction (darkening of the product and precipitation).
- Avoid contact with alkalis, heavy metal salts, strong acids, and oxidizing agents to prevent protein denaturation and silver coagulation.
- Transportation is permitted by all types of covered transit vehicles under temperature-controlled conditions. The product is not classified as hazardous cargo (exempt from ADR/DOT regulations). Shelf life is 3 years from the date of manufacture, provided factory seal integrity is maintained.
