Formic Acid 85% (methanoic acid) is a highly effective organic reagent, presenting as a colorless, transparent liquid with a sharp, characteristic odor. The product miscible perfectly with water, ethanol, and ether. Due to its strong reducing, antiseptic, and pH-regulating properties, formic acid is an indispensable component in textile processing, leather tanning, chemical synthesis, and the formulation of industrial and household cleaning products.

Applications

Textile Industry: Used as a pH regulator and mordant in dyeing and printing fabrics (especially wool and natural silk). It ensures uniform distribution and strong fixation of dyes within the fibers while preventing material degradation.

Leather and Fur Production: Applied during the pickling stage (preparing hides for tanning) and for adjusting acidity. It enhances the softness and elasticity of leather and promotes even penetration of tanning agents.

Household and Car Care Chemicals: Incorporated into high-performance cleaning formulations, rust removers, descalers, and lime deposit cleaners. It acts as a powerful agent for dissolving mineral build-ups.

Agricultural Sector: Utilized as a preservative and antibacterial agent for ensilage and fodder preservation. It delays decay and fermentation processes, preserving the nutritional value of the feed.

Transport is permitted by all types of covered transport in strict compliance with dangerous goods regulations (classified as a corrosive substance, Hazard Class 8).
Shelf Life: 1 year from the date of manufacture, provided the integrity of the airtight packaging is maintained.
