Brilliant Pigments

Formula: Слюда + TiO₂ / Fe₂O₃ GOST/CAS: CAS 12001-26-2 / 13463-67-7

Brilliant (pearlescent and effect) pigments are decorative additives that create effects of metallic luster, pearlescent shine, or interference iridescence. They are most often based on natural or synthetic mica coated with an ultra-thin layer of titanium dioxide or iron oxide. Depending on the thickness and composition of the coating, the pigments reflect and refract light differently, creating a wide palette of visual effects: from noble silver and gold to complex chameleon colors. The material is chemically inert, has excellent hiding power, and does not fade over time.

Applications

Paints and Coatings: Production of automotive enamels ("metallic", "pearl"), architectural paints, industrial and powder coatings to give products a premium appearance.
Plastics Production: Coloring of polymers (PE, PP, PVC, polystyrene) during injection molding and extrusion. Manufacturing of masterbatches for plastic containers and toys.
Cosmetics Industry: Added to eyeshadows, highlighters, nail polishes, lip glosses, and skincare cosmetics to create a glowing effect (special purified grades are used).
Printing and Design: Application in flexographic, screen, and gravure printing. Decorating wallpapers, creating premium packaging, labels, and artificial leather.

Key Advantages

Unique visual effects: Provide products with 3D depth, a luxurious pearlescent shine, and color iridescence unattainable with conventional pigments.
High resistance: The material is resistant to UV radiation (does not fade in the sun), precipitation, and most aggressive chemical solvents.
Thermal stability: Pigments withstand extremely high temperatures during processing (up to 800°C), making them ideal for hot plastic extrusion and curing powder coatings.
Eco-friendliness and safety: Based on natural minerals. Modern grades are non-toxic, free of heavy metals, and hypoallergenic (cosmetic series).

Storage & Transportation

  • Store in dry, well-ventilated warehouses in tightly closed original packaging.
  • Prevent exposure to moisture and condensation (pigments can clump, making their even distribution in the base difficult).
  • Transport with care, avoiding severe crushing and rubbing of the bags. Intense mechanical impact can destroy the fragile mica flakes, resulting in a loss of luster.
