Silicon Dioxide (Silica / Aerosil)

Formula: SiO₂ GOST/CAS: ГОСТ 32169-2013 / CAS 7631-86-9

Silicon dioxide is a colorless (in finely dispersed form — white) solid, refractory substance. It is one of the most in-demand raw material components in modern industry due to its unique physicochemical characteristics, high adsorption capacity, and chemical inertness. Depending on its structural modification (amorphous, crystalline, fumed silica), it acts as an effective filler, thickener, sorbent, and anti-caking agent. The product is widely used in the production of rubber goods, paints and coatings, building mixtures, as well as in the food and cosmetic industries (as the E551 additive).

Applications

Production of Rubber Goods and Tires: Acts as a highly active reinforcing filler (white carbon black), significantly increasing the strength, elasticity, and wear resistance of rubbers.
Chemical Synthesis and Coatings: An effective thickener and matting agent. Prevents pigment settling and improves the rheological properties of coatings and adhesives.
Food Industry and Pharmacology: Used as an anti-caking agent (E551), preventing the clumping of dry mixtures, spices, and powders.
Building Materials: An important structural component for the production of high-strength concretes, dry building mixtures, refractories, and special ceramics.

Key Advantages

High Specific Surface Area: Provides excellent adsorption, moisture-retaining, and thickening characteristics.
Versatility: Applied in various industries — from heavy industry and tire manufacturing to cosmetics and food production.
Chemical Inertness: Does not react with most acids and other chemicals; it is absolutely safe, stable, and non-toxic.
Heat Resistance: Maintains the stability of its structure and physicochemical properties when exposed to extremely high temperatures (above 1700°C).

Storage & Transportation

  • Store in dry, well-ventilated warehouses, reliably protected from precipitation and moisture.
  • Avoid mechanical damage to the packaging to prevent the dispersion (dusting) of the microfine product in the air.
  • Ensure the packaging is tightly sealed after each opening to maintain flowability and prevent moisture absorption.
