Methoxypropanol (PM)

Methoxypropanol (PM, propylene glycol monomethyl ether) is a colorless, transparent liquid with a faint, pleasant ethereal odor. Due to the presence of both ether and alcohol groups in its molecule, the product is a versatile solvent with high solvency power. It is fully miscible with water and most organic solvents. In modern industry, PM is widely used as a safer and more environmentally friendly alternative to toxic ethylene glycol ethers.

Applications

Paints and Coatings Production: An excellent active solvent for acrylic, epoxy, alkyd, and polyurethane resins. It improves leveling, gloss, and the film formation of coatings.

Printing Inks: Widely used in flexographic and rotogravure printing due to its optimal evaporation rate and ability to regulate viscosity.
