Pentaerythritol (Mono grade) is a white crystalline powder, which is a polyhydric alcohol (tetraol). In the industrial sector, it serves as a crucial basic raw material for the synthesis of various complex chemical products. Due to its symmetrical structure and the presence of four primary hydroxyl groups, monopentaerythritol exhibits high reactivity and is widely used in the production of paints and varnishes, synthetic oils, and as a key component in fire-retardant systems.
Applications
Production of coatings and synthetic resins: It is a key component for the synthesis of alkyd resins, polyesters, and polyurethanes. It significantly improves the gloss, hardness, drying speed, and weather resistance of paint and varnish coatings.
Fire-retardant materials (intumescent paints): Widely used as a carbonizing agent (carbon source) in intumescent fire-retardant coatings for metal structures, wood, and cables.
Synthetic lubricants: Used in the production of pentaerythritol esters, which serve as a reliable base for high-temperature aviation turbine oils and industrial lubricants.
Chemical synthesis: Applied in the production of rosin esters, plasticizers (for PVC), antioxidants for plastics, stabilizers, and polyurethane foams.
