Concrete and Construction Mixtures

Sodium Gluconate

Formula: C6H11NaO7 GOST/CAS: CAS: 527-07-1

Sodium gluconate is the sodium salt of gluconic acid, presenting as a white or pale yellow crystalline powder. Produced through the fermentation of glucose, the product is highly soluble in water and acts as an outstanding chelating (complexing) agent. On an industrial scale, it is highly valued for its unique ability to bind metal ions (calcium, iron, copper) in alkaline environments, and it also serves as one of the most effective plasticizers and set retarders for concrete mixtures.

Applications

Construction: Used as a highly effective plasticizer and water-reducing admixture. It significantly retards the setting process of concrete without loss of ultimate strength, which is ideal for large-volume pours or transportation in hot weather.
Industrial Cleaning & Metallurgy: Applied as an agent for removing rust and scale from metal surfaces, as well as in formulations for industrial glass bottle washing.
Water Treatment: Effectively prevents scale formation in boilers and cooling systems by binding hardness ions (calcium and magnesium).
Detergent Manufacturing: Added to household and industrial cleaning products to improve their cleaning capacity and stability when operating in hard water.

Key Advantages

Eco-friendly and Safe: The material is absolutely non-toxic, classified as a food additive (E576), and is 100% biodegradable, making it safe for the environment.
High Chelating Efficiency: Retains its exceptional chelating properties even at extremely high temperatures and strong pH levels.
Improved Concrete Properties: Significantly enhances the workability, density, and durability of finished reinforced concrete structures.
Chemical Stability: The product is stable, non-corrosive to equipment, and perfectly compatible with most other chemical additives (e.g., lignosulfonates).

Storage & Transportation

  • Store in dry, well-ventilated warehouses in tightly closed original packaging.
  • Ensure protection from moisture, as the product is hygroscopic.
  • Transportation is permitted by all types of covered transport, provided that standards for protection against moisture and mechanical damage to the packaging are strictly observed.
