Sodium Gluconate

Sodium gluconate is the sodium salt of gluconic acid, presenting as a white or pale yellow crystalline powder. Produced through the fermentation of glucose, the product is highly soluble in water and acts as an outstanding chelating (complexing) agent. On an industrial scale, it is highly valued for its unique ability to bind metal ions (calcium, iron, copper) in alkaline environments, and it also serves as one of the most effective plasticizers and set retarders for concrete mixtures.

Applications

Construction: Used as a highly effective plasticizer and water-reducing admixture. It significantly retards the setting process of concrete without loss of ultimate strength, which is ideal for large-volume pours or transportation in hot weather.

Industrial Cleaning & Metallurgy: Applied as an agent for removing rust and scale from metal surfaces, as well as in formulations for industrial glass bottle washing.

Water Treatment: Effectively prevents scale formation in boilers and cooling systems by binding hardness ions (calcium and magnesium).

Detergent Manufacturing: Added to household and industrial cleaning products to improve their cleaning capacity and stability when operating in hard water.
